Abstract

675,577. Two-part couplings. WALSALL CONDUITS, Ltd., and GOUGH, E. April 6, 1950 [June 29, 1949], No. 17146/49. Class 38 (i). In a socket connector preferably of the shuttered kind such as described in Specifications 675,558, 675,559 and 675,560, the earthing socket 13 is formed of sheet metal bent into a split tube with an integral lug 21 which, when the socket is positioned in a hole in the body 10, is secured to a threaded member 23 which also engages an earthing strip 16 surrounding the socket to limit its expansion, the strip also having a terminal 17 for the earthing lead. The member 23 receives at one end a nut 23 which secures the lug and is broadened at the other end 25 so that it will bear on the strip 16. The strip is provided with an extension 18 which terminates at one of the holes in the body for a securing screw, and has also an arm 19 which is fastened to the bridge-piece of a switch 20 so that the connector mounting, if metal, and the switch may be effectively earthed.
