Abstract

611,943. Two-part couplings. JACKSON, D., BUTLER, T. A., and PYE, Ltd. May 13, 1946, No. 14463. [Class 38 (i)] A wander plug is formed from a strip of metal bent double and provided with two sets of corrugations that grip respectively the sheath and the core of a cable; the whole assembly being housed in an insulating sleeve leaving only the plug contact portion exposed. The core 7 of a cable is gripped by corrugations 4, which also bear resiliently against the wall of the insulating sleeve 5. The corrugation 4<1> prevents the strip from being displaced in the sleeve. The sheath 8 of the cable is gripped by corrugations 3 which bear resiliently against an enlarged bore 6a in the sleeve 5. The projecting end portion 9 constitutes the plug contact proper, and may be rounded in shape. A co-operating socket for the above plug is in the form of a screw, Fig. 3, having a threaded portion 20; a head 21, with a screw-driver slot, and a contact bore 23. The socket is held captive in a removable panel 24 by a washer 25 engaged in a recess 26, and screws into a nut member 27 which forms a terminal contact. The socket thus forms a contact and also secures the panel 24 in position.
