In an electrical appliance including a conductor 9 in the form of a metallic spring tongue, a terminal adaptor 5 is inserted into the appliance through a hole 15 and has a serrated or otherwise roughened shank 3 by which it is contacted and retained within the appliance by the grip between the tongue and a wall 14, the outer end of the adaptor carrying either a threaded terminal piece 6, 7 as illustrated, or a socket or spade terminal, Fig. 6 (not shown), so as to function as part of a two-part coupling.
