Abstract
712,417. Two-part couplings. BROOKHIRST SWITCHGEAR, Ltd., and BUTTERWORTH, E. M. Aug. 26, 1952, [Sept. 14, 1951.] No. 21591/51. Class 38(I). A plug-and-socket connector, particularly for connecting together two parts of electrical apparatus, comprises a plug of bent metal strip 18 chamfered at one end, the other being screwed tc one part 11 of the apparatus and connected to a supply terminal 19. The socket is mounted on the other part 10 of the apparatus, and comprises a spring-urged ball or roller 15 held laterally by bosses 17 integral with the part 10, and held against the wall ioa by an outwardly-bent part 13 of a metal strip 12 connected to a supply terminal 14. The plug is inserted between the ball 15 and the wall 10a. The two parts 10,11 may be held together by a spring clip. In the application of the invention to contactor gear, the sockets are mounted on a panel carrying the main gear and the plugs on the casing in which the main gear is housed, Figs. 1, 2, (not shown).
