Abstract
675,525. Toothed gearing. THORNTON, A. A. (Falk Corporation). Nov. 8, 1949, No. 28589/49. Class 80 (i). Gearing to provide a drive through two parallel paths from a driving shaft 27 to a driven, shaft 13 comprises two helical driving pinions 21, 21' each engaging a number of equally spaced gears 20 or 20<SP>1</SP> on alternate countershafts l7 arranged in a circle around the driving shaft axis. These countershafts each have a gear 16 engaging a common ring gear 14 carried by the driven shaft 13. The driving pinions 21, 21' have each a toothed coupling engagement 25, 25' with rings 23, 24 on a common sleeve 26 which also has a toothed coupling 28 with the driving shaft 27 so that they are free individually to float radially so as to equalise the tooth reactions between them and the gears 20, 20<SP>1</SP>. The sleeve 26 can also move axially so as to equalise the loads transmitted through the gears.
