Class 110(i) [Also in Group X] A ventilating fan unit has a valve for excluding back draught through its air-flow passage 22, which valve comprises a closure member 10 accepted to close the air flow passage and supported by a flexible strip 14, for example of phospher bronze or steel, secured at one end to the closure member and at the other to the casing of the air flow passage, the arrangement being such that the valve is opened by the forward flow of air when the fan is in operation and is closed again when the fan is shut off. The closure member 10 may consist of a metal rim 7 a fabric cover, or be made of metal or plastic and may have a series of rubber studs 19 arranged round its perimeter to prevent audible vibration. A set screw 26 is provided to adjust the setting of the flexible strip 14. In a modification a number of flexible strips may be used to support the closure member or an arrangement comprising a number of pivotally connected rigid members and a spring may replace the flexible strip.
