Abstract
1467141 Ventilation damper in an air conditioner ITT INDUSTRIES Inc 19 April 1974 [19 April 1973] 17300/74 Heading F4V In a unitary air conditioner comprising a condenser 14, compressor 13, cooling unit 15 and fan 12, there is a door 17 provided with an integral air vane 16. The door 17 is urged closed by a spring 19 but, during operation of the conditioner, the door 17 is opened by the action of air flow from the fan 12 acting on the vane 16. The conditioner is mounted in a wall 25. Opening of the door 17 allows air to pass through an opening in the partition 21, e.g. to allow fresh air to enter a room. The conditioner may be operated with the door 17 held shut by a locking member 24 which engages a strut 20 on the door. Fig. 4 shows a door 17 and air vane 16 separately pivoted at 18 but linked by a spring 26. By this means, when the door 17 is held shut, the air stream is able to pivot the vane 16 out of its way. A bellows member (30), Fig. 5 (not shown), may be used instead of a spring 19. In another modification the door 17 may be urged closed by gravity.
