Abstract

1,252,150. Ventilators. E. M. VAN DE POL'S HANDELSONDERNEMING N.V. 12 Dec., 1968 [18 Dec., 1967], No. 59225/68. Heading F4V. A ventilator for mounting in a window pane, wall panel, or in a duct comprises an annular plastic casing 1 with a fixed grating 3, the lower half of the casing being closed by a division plate 2 and the upper half being closable by rotation (by means of cords) of a sealing plate 16, there being a circular valve plate 4 having blades 6 over half its circumference which is biased against movement caused by the air flow therethrough so that it remains stationary in a position of equilibrium. A spiral torsion spring 23 around the spindle 8 of valve plate provides the bias for the plate 4. Alternatively, or in addition, weights positioned off-centre of the plate 4 provide the bias action. The bias may be provided by a magnet. The ventilator may be used in walls and may connect a room to a vertical shaft from which air from each room in the building is exhausted by a fan. The venti- lator may be used in vehicles.
