[Also in Division F2] In an air extraction system in which air is drawn from one or more kitchen hoods 2 through ducts 18, 3 and from other spaces through a duct 5 by a common, fan 1, each hood 2 includes a butterfly damper having a central opening through which air passes when the damper is in its closed position. Each hood includes a control for the damper and a grease filter. The air extraction rate may be controlled by a servomotor which adjusts the fan speed or a damper in the fan inlet or a return damper in parallel with the fan in response to a pressure senser 7. The duct 5 may extract air from toilets or bathrooms. Each damper has a circumferential seal. The openings in the dampers have tapered flanges to reduce noise.
