Abstract

1,026,576. Balanced flue chimney systems. TRUE FLUE Ltd. March 19, 1965 [Jan. 29, 1964], No. 3883/64. Heading F4J. A concentric flue system for balanced flue heating appliances in a building is constructed from prefabricated units disposed one on the other, and comprises an outer duct 10 of rectangular section, and an inner duct 12 spaced therefrom by oppositely disposed webs. The outer duct 10 is closed at its lower end, its upper end being open to atmosphere through grille 15. The inner duct 12 is open at both ends, its lower end being spaced from the closed lower end of the outer duct, its upper end opening to atmosphere through grille 14. When balanced flue appliances (not shown) connected to one of the ducts, preferably 10, are operated, fresh air is drawn downwardly through said inner duct 12 and thence upwardly through outer duct 10, which outer duct then constitutes the vitiated air outlets for the appliances. When the appliances are connected to the inner duct, the air flow is in the reverse direction. The prefabricated chimney units are made from concrete, refractory concrete, asbestos, metal or any other appropriate material.
