674,194. Casting processes ; patterns. BRITISH INDUSTRIAL PLASTICS, Ltd., and ROLASTON, N. Nov. 29, 1950 [Dec. 8, 1949], No. 31582/49. Class 83 (i). [Also in Group V] A wax mould of an article, to be used subsequently to make a refractory mould for the article by the " lost wax " process, is formed by solidifying a layer of wax 6 on the surface of a master die 2 and then backing the layer with a mass 8 of solid wax in the form of compressed granules. The die 2 is placed in a mould 1 and the mould filled with molten wax, the greater part of which is then poured away, leaving a solid layer 6. The backing 8 of granulated wax is compressed by means of a plunger 3. Low-melting-point alloy, such as Wood's metal may be used instead of wax.
