Abstract

444,366. Etching. KLUMPP, A., Berndorf, near Vienna. March 29, 1935, No. 9804. Convention date, March 29, 1934. [Class 100 (ii)] Designs are transferred from models of various kinds, which may include engraved patterns, objects of nature, &c. to metals, glass, or other materials capable of being etched by a process which consists in taking a plaster cast from the model and employing this cast to remove the resist from a coating of resist on the material to receive the design The resist employed is preferably an acid-resisting varnish, and the plaster cast may be taken from a preliminary wax cast taken from the original. Ordinary or electrolytic etching may be employed, and the etching process is carried out in several stages with a repeated application in register of the plastic cast to the resist. The process may be used for etching designs in hard steel dies, and may be used for renewing designs which have become inaccurate through repeated use of the die, or by the application of hardening processes to the die. Specification 18587 /99, [Class 101], is referred to.
