809,025. Moulding-processes. ZENTRALINSTITUT FUR GIESSEREITECHNIK. May 24, 1955, No. 14954/55. Class 83 (1). A method of producing sand-moulds for hollow crankshafts, cam-shafts and the like employing vertically-stacked moulding-box sections, is characterized by the use of patternparts which, with the pattern-plates carrying them, are removable from the moulding-box sections after ramming-up, and which are common to the production of several moulding- box sections which are similar to each other except for angular staggering or reversal with respect to each other in the stack, there being fitted into said pattern-plates, removable and interchangeable pattern-inserts for forming those portions of the moulding-box sections which result in the cavities in the castings, the inserts being in position in the pattern-plates when the moulding-box sections are rammed-up. In the moulding of a two-throw crank-shaft, mould-sections 1, 4, 5 and 8 are formed with the aid of the pattern-plate and pattern 19, 19<SP>1</SP> with insert 20, and the mould-sections 2, 3, 6 and 7 are formed with the pattern-plate 21, the insert 22 being, used therewith to form the sections 2 and 7, and the insert 23, to form the sections 3 and 6.
