Abstract
975,022. Moulds. DIRECTOR OF THE RUMANIAN MINISTRY OF HEAVY INDUSTRY. March 13, 1961, No. 9133/61. Heading B3F. A mould or pattern for use in casting one-piece workpieces of the type having a number of portions along their length in which each portion has a parting plane but the parting planes of the various portions do not all coincide, e.g. a multi-throw crankshaft, is characterized in that the mould or pattern is divided into portions by plane parting surfaces which extend over the length of the workpiece and coincide one with each of the said individual parting planes. A mould for casting a crank-shaft with throws arranged at 120 degrees intervals, Fig. 2, comprises three portions 5, 6, 7 arranged in a mould box 8, Fig. 4, or 21, Fig. 5, with crank-pin cavity cores 9-12. The mould comprises a pouring system 13, ducts 14 symmetrical with the pouring system to prevent deformation of the workpiece, and a chamber 15 to collect crumbs of moulding mixture which may form during the assembly. A number of shell moulds for crankshafts, Fig. 8, may be assembled in a box containing sand or iron scrap, Fig. 9.
