671,985. Gear pumps. BORG-WARNER CORPORATION. Aug. 1, 1950 [Oct. 8, 1949], No. 19167/50. Class 110(ii) In a pump having axially-displaceable, pressure-loaded bushes 9, 13, means are provided for communicating discharge pressure to a greater number of gear tooth pockets of the driven gear 6 than to the tooth pockets of the driving gear 7 on the inlet side 16, thereof. Means are provided to keep the journal loads. between the driving and driven gears substantially equal. Grooves 22, 23 allow fluid under discharge pressure to flow to pockets on the gears, the groove 22 being longer than the groove 23. The inlet port 16 is offset relative to the discharge port 17. A passage 18 allows pressure fluid to flow to the outsides of bushes 9, 13. A relief reces's 20 allows some fluid from the pump to flow to the inlet side by way of ducts 21.
