Abstract

1,187,043. Hydrostatic couplings. STENBERG-FLYGT A.B. 6 April, 1967 [7 April, 1966], No. 15828/67. Addition to 1,089,457. Heading F2C. [Also in Division F1] A hydrostatic slip-coupling 13 in a centrifugal pump (see Division F1) is of the sliding vane type and has suction and discharge passages 16, 17 which are externally interconnected by a throttle valve in accordance with a pump discharge flow variable, e.g. pressure or velocity, to cause the coupling to slip and the pump impeller speed to fall. A spring-biased throttle valve for controlling pump shaft torque may be connected in parallel with the first-mentioned throttle valve. In the embodiment shown the latter is constituted by a slide valve 20 controlled by a diaphragm 7 in accordance with pump discharge pressure.
