Abstract

1,089,457. Centrifugal pumps. STENBERGFLYGT A. B. Dec. 14, 1964 [Dec. 16, 1963], No.50850/64. Heading F1C. [Also in Division F2] In a centrifugal pump driven by a motor through a hydrostatic slip-coupling 8, the latter is mounted in the impeller chamber. The pump output is controlled by controlling the amount of slip in the coupling 8 by a regulating pin 10 extending through the hollow driving-shaft 6. The regulating pin can actuate a throttle valve between the suction and pressure sides of the coupling, preferably constructed as a gear pump. The regulating pin is influenced by a mechanism 11 including, e.g., an electric motor controlled by a thermostat. The coupling 8 is secured to the pump impeller 3 and is cooled by the pumped fluid. The coupling casing and pump impeller may be provided with cooling flanges to increase the cooling area.
