Abstract

434,228. Hydraulic transmission of power. DELL, C., 25, Swing Gate Lane, Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire, and READ, H. L., Netherton, Herington Grove, Hutton Mount, Essex. May 15, 1934, No. 14648. [Class 69 (ii)] In hydraulic transmission devices of the F÷ttinger type, a chamber containing liquid and air is formed by a clearance between the casing and a vane wheel, and means secured to the element on the driving shaft are provided in the chamber to aid centrifugal action in pumping liquid over the back of the vane wheel into the working chambers when the pressure in the latter permits. The means may consist of spiral fins or grooves 4, Figs. 1 and 3, provided on the back of the vane wheel or the opposing internal casing wall, and the chamber, when the casing is a fixed one, may have a gravity tank or other external source of supply. The invention may be applied to the transmission system described in Specification 434,204.
