Abstract

781,238. Gear pumps. NEW YORK AIR BRAKE CO. Dec. 19, 1955, No. 36301/55. Class 110 (2). A reversible gear pump is provided with wear plates 17, each of which is formed adjacent the inlet conduit of the pump, with a port 41 which is encircled by an 0-ring 42, see Fig. 61 (not shown). Each wear plate has a bronze facing 37, apertures 38 for the passage of the shafts and a series of passages 39 for lubrication purposes. The inner face of each wear plate is provided with a recess to relieve fluid trapped between the intermeshing teeth, see Fig. 4 (not shown). Bearings 27, 31 and sealing means 21, 33 are arranged as shown.
