1386873 Rotary positive-displacement machines COMMERCIAL SHEARING & STAMPING CO 9 May 1972 [10 May 1971] 21517/72 Heading F1F In a gear pump, or motor, the gears 11, 12 are sandwiched between pressure-loaded plates 13, 14 and are supported by bearings 19, 20 against which ring members 23 are pressed by fluid pressure transmitted through passages 61, each of said members being furnished with either a ring seal 60 or a rubber ring 70 having a C-shaped profile in cross-section. The back of each plate has grooves 34 ÀÀÀ 38 containing elastomeric seals 40 ÀÀÀ41 to form pockets to which pressure is transmitted through cut-away peripheral portions of the plate. Grooves are provided on the front of each plate to relieve fluid trapped between the meshing teeth, Fig.2 (not shown).
