Abstract

702,107. Rotary engines and pumps. PREMOBIL AKT.-GES. Aug. 12, 1949 [Aug. 13, 1948; July 26, 1949], No. 8471/52. Divided out of 702,036. Class 110 (2) A rotary hydraulic engine or pump, of the intermittent abutment type, has vanes which move through an annular working chamber and are provided with means for connecting the vanes alternately to the rotor and the stator, the connecting or disengaging of a vane taking place when it is relieved of side pressure from the working chamber. In one construction, Figs. 1, 2, vanes 6, 7, 12, 13 supported by rings 51 on a stator 2, are coupled or un-coupled to a rotor 9 by means of rotary pins 8, 16, 17 in the stator through pinions 54 engaging toothed segments 58, 59, 60 on the inner periphery of the rotor. As a hydraulic engine, liquid enters the working spaces through a pipe 2, spaces 10 and a port 11, and leaves through a port 14 and spaces 15. The rotor 9 may be part of a wheel of a vehicle. Segmental ports 52, 53, Figs. 3, 4 (not shown) in the rotor and stator walls are used to relieve unilateral pressure on vanes 12, 13 in their positions shown in Fig. 2. Vane is discharging liquid through the port 14 as it is keyed to the rotor by the pin 8. The vanes 12, 13 are, at this time, being disengaged from the stator 4 and being brought into connection with the rotor 9. More than four vanes may be used. In a second arrangement, Figs. 7, 8 a stator 21 carries the inlet and outlet pipes and ports as shown by, the arrows, and the vane movements are controlled by lateral pins which engage grooves in the stator and rotor walls. Pins, on the vanes 29 . . . 34, are also engaged in slots in rollers 43 which are actuated by pins 48 in the rotor which co-act with slots 47 in the roller.s. Toothed wheels may be used instead of the pin-and-slot mechanism. Clearances at the ends of the vanes allow liquid flow therethrough while a vane is changing from stator to rotor, or vice-versa. Pressureequalization slots 27, 25 and 28, 24 are provided as shown.
