In a mulling machine including mullers and a plough supported from the arms of a cross-head for working a mixture in a crib the plough is carried by an adjusting member depending from one of the arms of the cross-head which affords means for selectively adjusting the plough with respect to the bottom of the crib, with respect to the side walls of said crib and angularly about said adjusting member. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2, a pair of muller wheels 10, an outside plough 11, an inside plough 12 and a scraper 13 are secured to a cross-head 14 for rotation by a drive shaft 15 in a crib 16. The ploughs 11 and 12 are supported by vertically displaceable screws 31, 35, which pass through slots 11c, 12c, in upper strap portions 11b, 12b, whereby the ploughs may be adjusted in vertical, radial and angular directions. Each muller wheel 10 is carried by a bushing 38 on an arm 37 pivotally connected to the cross-head at 14b and is provided with a scraper 48 supported from the arm 37. The weight of the muller wheel may be increased by means of a weight 60 secured by an arm 61 to the member 37, Fig. 5. A discharge door 50 comprises a substantially semi-circular plate pivotally mounted upon a bolt 51 and displaceable in a horizontal plane by means of a handle 53, the circumferential edge 50a of the plate being of a stepped section which engages in sliding and leak-proof relationship with a correspondingly-shaped edge 23b on the wear plate 23 of the crib 16. A discharge shoot is provided at 55. A funnel 56 through which water is introduced to the mixture may be supported by the cap 30 on the cross-head, Fig. 4 (not shown).
