Abstract

382,012. Distributers for powders. CRAVEN & CO., Ltd., W. J. and CRAVEN, W. J., 48, Port Street, Evesham, Worcestershire. Aug. 25, 1931, No. 23861. [Class 6 (i).] A pneumatic machine for applying powders to crops &c. is provided with a multiple-armed agitator conforming in shape to the interior walls of the powder hopper and adapted to be oscillated through lever and rod connections to an eccentric or the like mounted on a driving spindle of the fan or blower. The hopper e is circular and is mounted over a mixing chamber f in the outlet pipe b of a fan or blower casing a. The agitator g consists of a number of arms mounted on a shaft h provided with a lever arm j universally jointed to a rod k which is controlled by an eccentric l in association with a crank handle c on the driving spindle m projecting from the gear box d of the fan or blower. The outlet from the hopper e is of a perforated disc formation and is provided with a correspondingly shaped regulating and cut-off disc p carried by a rotatable sleeve i fitted with an adjusting lever q. The outlet disc n is provided with a pair of scrapers o comprising radial arms mounted on the shaft h. The machine may be mounted on a carrier frame provided with handles, or on a wheeled chassis for manual propulsion. It may be provided with a motor to drive the fan and propel the machine. According to the Provisional Specification the machine may be carried like a knapsack.
