Powder distributors.-A machine for powdering hops &c. comprises a narrow wheeled frame, a hopper, a rotary agitator in the hopper, a rotary brush for feeding the powder from the hopper, a blower, and adjustable distributing-tubes arranged around the periphery of a shallow cylindrical distributing-box. The narrow rectangular frame a, Fig. 1, is made of pressed steel and is carried by two wheels b, the axle of which is mounted in brackets c. The draught shafts e fit into hollow castings d cranked upwardly and outwardly from the frame a. The agitator in the hopper f consists of two blades fixed to a shaft g. The powder passes down a tapering shoot and is discharged by a rotary brush into a passage k leading from the housing l<1> of a centrifugal fan to the distributing-box q. The fan is driven from the axle at a high speed through a clutch and gearing enclosed in a, casing m. The brush and agitator are driven from a countershaft p<2> by chain gearing. The shallow cylindrical distributing-box shown in Fig. 5 is provided with projecting tubular bosses r forming connections for flexible metallic distributing pipes s. Any one or more of the bosses may be shut off by rotating a central spindle by means of a pinion t' and a segmental rack t<2> adapted to be rocked by means of a hand-lever t<3> near the driver's seat, the central spindle carrying a segmental shutter or valve t. A curved baffle u is fixed in the distributing box. The flexible pipes s are supported by clips x, x<1> adjustably mounted on a frame consisting of double vertical members v connected by a perforated arched member v<1> and by vertically perforated cross-bars. Fig. 6 shows another arrangement of distributing box and pipes. Baffle members 1 may be formed as a single unit removably fixed in the cylindrical box q. Side tubes s are connected to projecting tubular bosses r and are supported as previously described. Three other tubes 7, 8, 9 having inclined funnelshaped ends 10, 11, 12 are mounted on a rotatable member 6 so that they may be turned into either of the two positions shown. The member 6 turns on a central rigid tube 3 fitting into the tube 8 and interengages with a corresponding member 5 fixed on the tube 3 and on two outer tubes 2, 4 which lead into the tubes 7, 9. The member 6 is provided with a handle 13.
