671,535. Electric analogue calculating systems. METROPOLITAN-VICKERS ELECTRICAL CO., Ltd. Dec. 28, 1950 [Jan. 10, 1950], No. 645/50. Class 37. [Also in Group XL (c)] In a subtracting amplifier having two stages V1, V2 and V3, V4, each with common cathode impedance, a negative feed-back connection is taken from the cathodes of the second stage to the grid of a valve V5 forming the cathode impedance of the first stage. The valve V5 is only effective for in-phase components which cause the cathodes of valves V2, V4 to vary in potential so that a correcting .voltage is fed back to valves V1, V2. The control grids of the amplifying valves and the screen grid of valve V5 are connected to a fixed potential and the valves V1, V2 may be directly coupled to valves V3, V4.
