671,511. Condensers. MICAFIL, Ltd. April 4, 1950 [April 4, 1949], No. 8472/50. Class 37. A condenser comprises several inter-electrode dielectric insulating layers D impregnated with an insulating medium, at least the edges of the electrodes B1, B2 within the dielectric material D being provided with a folded U-shaped insulating envelope J, of which the inner surface has a conducutive coating S in contact with the electrode. Numerous modifications are described. One end of each electrode may protrude beyond the limit of the layers D and is then not provided with an envelope J, whilst the envelope J and the coating S may extend the full width of the layers D on one or both sides of each electrode, or to an intermediate position. In a further example, Fig. 6 (not shown), the envelope J and its coating S almost completely surround the electrode. The coating S can be sprayed, glued, pressed or applied to the envelope J by chemical means, or an insulating layer in liquid form can be altered to solidify on a metallic sheath.
