Abstract

671,473. Caps for discharge tubes. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. April 1, 1949, No. 8904/49. Class 38 (i). [Also in Group XL (a)] The glass base 1 of a valve envelope has a metal tube 5 sealed centrally therein and supporting a detachable heat radiator 7 having cooling fins 8. Preferably a glass tubulation 10 is sealed to the end of a metal tubular extension on the end of the tube 5 and is protected by a metal sheath 11. The tube 5 may be sealed in the base by a tube 3 having a locating spigot 4 and may form part of the electrode structure. The tube 5 may be closed by cold welding whereupon the tubulation is dispensed with.
