Abstract

549,135. Discharge apparatus. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd BOURNE, H. K., and BEESON, E. J. G. Aug. 19, 1941, No. 10528 [Class 39 (i)] The lead in for electric discharge tubes consists of strips 3 of molybdenum &c. foil, attached at each end to refractory metal strips 5, and:sealed by collapsing thereon quartz or hard boro-silicate glass tubes 4 forming the hollow stem or neck portion of the tube. The inner ends of the strips 5, carry the electrode: support 1, and the. outer ends are clamped around: a. massive metal member 6, preferably of brass, provided with a reduced extension which fits into the hollow stem to prevent overheating the: seal. The member 6 has a terminal connection 7 and the clamping means is a clip 9 with underlying split ring 10.
