Abstract
671,130. Sanitary traps. FOLKARD, Ltd.,. J. S. & F., and FOLKARD, F. J. June 5, 1950 [Jan. 24, 1950], No. 1842/50. Class 33 A liquid trap comprising chambers 1, 2 has a pair of pressure-equalizing ducts 5 both having terminal mouths 11, communicating with the junction of the upper end of the chamber 2 and the outlet of the trap, and terminal mouths 7, communicating with interior of the chamber 1 below the liquid level 15, to prevent unsealing of the trap. In the form shown, the ducts 5 extend along the opposite sides of the assembly and a gasket 8, between the body of the trap and the removable bottom cover 6, is shaped to seal off the lower ends of the ducts. A horizontal extension 9 is secured to the flanged end of the outlet chamber 2 and has an outlet end 12 of the same bore as the chambers 1, 2, the remainder of the extension 9 being enlarged in cross-section to form a liquid retention chamber 13 the end of which is inwardly inclined to form a baffle 14 and prevent the outflowing liquid being entirely withdrawn by a surge. A flap valve 16 may be provided to prevent back-pressure.
