1,185,303. Valves. J. L. HALES. 10 March, 1967 [11 March, 1966], No. 50819/69. Divided out of 1,185,302. Heading F2V. A valve for liquids includes a body 24 closed at one end by a flexible membrane 31, a perforated frusto-conical partition 26 separating the inlet 27 from the outlet 33, and a movable plug 29 adapted to close the perforations. The membrane is secured to the plug and to the valve body and may be subjected to pressure, e.g. from a weight 37, to open the plug against water pressure acting on its base. A baffle ring 28 may be of flexible construction to close the inlet if suction occurs in the feed pipe.
