Abstract
757,884. Drain traps. BENDZ, Ltd., and ACKERMAN, S. Jan. 22, 1953 [Jan. 22, 1952], No. 1725/52. Divided out of 757,888 [Group XXII] Class 99(1). The enlarged end 15 of the outlet of a U-trap 10 is provided with a circumferential recess 17 to receive a rubber &c. ring 18 which projects inwardly to form a liquid seal with the outer surface of a closely fitting drain pipe 16. As described, the ring is of circular, elliptical or oval cross-section, the recess is part-circular in cross-section and has a depth which lies between 0.7 that of the ring and just less than the whole depth and there is an overall clearance between the side walls of the recess of 0À3 to 0À1 of the width of the ring. According to the Provisional Specification, pipes may be coupled and the recess may be rectangular or V-shaped in cross-section.
