Class 22 Silica bricks are prepared from a mixture of coarse and fine grains of silicious material of which at least 70 per cent consists of natural highly silicious sand of which intermediate grain sizes, in the range of which the smallest is one seventh the size of the largest of said intermediate sizes, do not constitute more than 15 per cent of the total mixture, moulding, drying and baking the mixture. Calcium hydroxide and sulphite waste liquor may also be present.
