Class 22 A refractory composition comprises-used crushed and/or ground silica refractories and a hydrogel of silica and alumina. The hydrogel may be a mixture of hydrated colloidal silica and kaolinite, bentonite or formulized bentonite. Electrically fused silica is added to the bentonite to give formulized bentonite.
