Abstract

669,618. Hatch covers. M.E.P. CO., Ltd. April 12, 1950, No. 8976/50. Addition to 623,817. Class 113 (i). In a hatch cover assembly according to the parent Specification, the several hatch covers are linked together by means of a U- shaped or hairpin links 45 the respective limbs of which are inserted through holes 47, 48 in the neighbouring side edges of the covers and are trapped within thelatter by a plate 49. Some of the covers have elements of interlocking pin-andslot or like devices on their ends and/or sides which interlock with co-operating elements on the hatch coaming and hatch beams to prevent removal of the hatch cover assembly therefrom except by a sliding movement, and locking covers are inserted or included in the assembly to prevent said sliding movement, means being provided for locking said locking covers to the coaming and/or hatch beams.
