[Also in Group XIII] In a plate heat exchanger (see Group XIII) comprising a stack of spaced, corrugated plates of sheet metal, 'the corrugations in all the plates are formed by rolling, and thereafter, the ridges 14 in the plates 10 are formed with a separate set of rolls, the metal being slightly stretched in the forming operation so'that the corrugations 12 disappear from the material forming the ridges.
