Abstract

571,510. Cooling towers &c. MITCHELL, F. G. Nov. 18, 1943, No. 19273. [Class 64 (i)] In a unitary structure comprising cooling elements 38 attached together in spaced parallel relationship by attachment means, for use ;n cooling apparatus, e.g., a cooling tower, the cooling elements are each of sheet form. The sheets may be flat, or corrugated horizontally or vertically, with the crests of one sheet extending into the hollows of the next. The sheets in each unit are held in an open box-like frame or, as shown, by nuts and bolts 42 with distance pieces. The sheets may be arranged in two or more layers one above another. When there are two layers, the sheets in the upper layer may be at right angles to rest upon those in the lower layer. The sheets may be formed of concrete or a plastic, e.g., by moulding or pressing, or of sheet iron. Specification 20,944/04, [Class 29], is referred to.
