Abstract

668,341. Powder blowers. ARMOUR & CO. Sept. 28, 1949. [Nov. 18, 1948; March 22, 1949] Nos. 24940/49 and 24941/49. Class 18. [Also in Group VI] In a powder blower comprising a tube adapted to receive a capsule of powder. the tube is provided with a seat and a stop between which the capsule is reciprocated, ejection of the powder being in a moving stream of air through an aperture formed in that end of the capsule which engages the stop. As shown, the blower comprises a tube 1 in which is slidably mounted an openended powder capsule 3. At one end of the tube 1 is an apertured tube 12 provided with a capsule seat 11 at one end and a collapsable ball 5 with valve 6 attached to the other end. Extension 7 of nozzle member 2 is inserted into the end 14 of tube 1 after insertion of capsule 3. Air pressure causes the capsule to strike against the end surface 8 of extension 7 thereby loosening some of the powder within the capsule for ejection along with the air current through the aperture of nozzle 2. The open end 9 of the capsule may be covered by a perforated cap whilst in a modified nozzle member the end 8 of extension 7 is formed with air conducting grooves. In a further modification travel of capsule 3 is limited by insertion of two capsules. The nozzle member 2 of the dispenser may be fitted with a long flexible tube for treating the! inside of the stomach with powder.
