Abstract
380,186. Pocket devices for treating insect bites. HART, E. W., 1, Baker Street, Nottingham. July 2, 1931, No. 19122. [Class 81 (ii).] A pocket device for treating insect stings consists of an outer tube 2 fitted with a detachable nozzle 1 containing medicated cotton wool or the like 4. A second tube 5 fitted with a rubber or leather piston 6 slides in the tube 2 against the action of a spring 8 and is fitted at its free end with a pencil of solid medicament 7 normally covered by a cap 12. The nozzle 1 is formed with an aperture 10 closed by a rubber band 11 or other valve member. Medicament from the member 1 may be ejected on the compression stroke of the piston, or the orifice 3 of the nozzle may be pressed over a sting so that on compressing the piston air escapes through the aperture 10, whilst on the return stroke suction is applied to the sting.
