Abstract

642,208. Powder blowers. METAL BOX CO., Ltd., and RITCHIE, D. April 5, 1948, Nos. 9527 and 17356. [Class 18] A powder blower comprises a body portion 1, containing the powder, surrounded at one end by a sleeve 2 provided with an apertured cap 10 having a diaphragm valve 12. This valve enables air to enter through the apertures 11 in the cap 10 when the sleeve is pulled in one direction, and closes when the sleeve is moved in the opposite direction to force air through a similarly apertured cap 7, provided with a diaphragm valve 9, on the end of the body portion 1. The air forced into the body portion causes the powder to be ejected through an aperture 6 in an end closure 5 on the body portion 1. One or more apertures may be provided in the caps 7 or 10 and the diaphragms may be secured between the caps and respective wall of the body portion 1 and the sleeve 2. Alternatively the diaphragms may be secured to the caps by adhesive. The diaphragms are suitably apertured, or slit to provide flaps, the openings being out of alignment with the apertures in the caps. An additional diaphragm may be positioned next to the diaphragm in the sleeve or body portion and be provided with openings which are offset in relation to openings in the other diaphragm.
