Abstract

668,029. Fluid-actuated valves. INTERNATIONAL HARVESTER CO. May 12, 1950 [May 26, 1949], No. 11920/50. Class 135 [Also in Group XXXIV] A control valve for hydraulic devices, e.g. brakes, comprises a plunger 59, slidable in a sleeve 29 provided in a body 27, to control the connection of a port 45 to either a pressure inlet port 44 or an exhaust port 46, the port 45 leading to a brake 14. The plunger is moved to connect ports 44 and 45 by a lever 85 through a sleeve 79, a spring 77, a. member 78 and a piston 73. The pressure applied to the port 45 moves the piston 73 against the spring 77, to a point where the pressure of the fluid equalises the spring pressure, and also acts on a wall 66 in the plunger. The wall is provided with an orifice 69 through which fluid leaks, permitting a spring 68 to move the plunger gradually to follow the piston 73 and close the inlet port 44. Increased pressure at the port 45 is obtained by moving the lever 85 to increase the force of the spring 77. On release of the lever, the plunger moves to connect the ports 45, 46 thereby relieving the pressure at the port 45 and releasing the brakes.
