Abstract
667,150. Operating lift doors. ROLLINSON, E. W. (Guilbert, Inc.). Dec. 5, 1949. No. 31149/49. Class 78 (iii). [Also in Group XXV] The oppositely sliding leaves 10, 11 of a counterbalanced lift-shaft door are operated by means of a friction element 41 adapted to embrace a plate 55 fixed to the lower leaf, means being provided for projecting the friction element into engagement with the plate, reciprocating it to open and close the door and finally retracting it. The friction element, which is mounted on a frame 15 carried by the lift cage and is slidable along guide rails 17 by means of a motor-driven chain 22, comprises a pair of shoes, one of which is fixed to arms 36, 37 slidably mounted in the frame, while the other is fixed to arms 43, 44 pivotally mounted on brackets projecting from the arms 36, 37 and biassed towards the latter by means of springs 46, 47. The arms 36, 37 carry a roller 61 which co-operates with a cam guide 62 to project the friction shoes into the path of the plate at the commencement of the downward travel of the frame, a limit switch halting the frame when the, door is fully open. Subsequently, after the door has reached its fully open position, the frame continues its upward travel until the roller co-operates with a cam guide 63 to retract the friction shoes, the plate slipping between the latter during the final movement of the frame.
