[Class 65 (i)] [Also in Group X] Sliding-swinging doors, operating by pneumatic pressure.-A door 5 of the kind provided with rollers 6, 7 running in tracks so that in the open position the door lies substantially horizontal, the lower edge of the door moving substantially vertically, is opened by a pneumatic cylinder 9 having a stroke substantially less than the initial movement of the door, by means of a wire 22 running round one or more stationary pulleys 17 and one or more pulleys 18 carried by the piston rod of the cylinder 9 to give the necessary ratio of movement. In the arrangement shown the wire 22 is divided, both limbs passing over pulleys 25, one to the lower corner of the door shown and the other over another pulley to the other lower corner. The upper end of the piston rod is guided by a shoe in a fixed channel. The upper end of the cylinder is open to the air, and a cock 28, actuated manually or by any remote control means, connects the lower end alternatively to a compressed air supply or to the upper end of the cylinder or shuts it off completely. A pawl 27 engages notches in the piston rod to hold the door open, and may be coupled to the cock for simultaneous operation. The door may be divided into sections hinged together and suitably guided. Wedges are provided in the tracks to engage the rollers in the closed position to force the door against the frame (see Group X).
