Abstract

735,468. Door-operating appliances. ALDAM & CO., Ltd., H. March 9, 1954 [Dec. 15, 1952], No. 31728/52. Class 65(1). A sliding folding door is operated by a poweractuated reciprocatory member carried by the two door leaves adjacent to the hinge between them and connected by rigid links to the door leaves. In the arrangement shown the leaves 2, 3 are hinged together at 5 and the reciprocatory member is constituted by the piston-rod 7 of a compressed-air or hydraulic cylinder 6 attached to the hinge by a bar 8 and fed by connections on the door leaf 3 from valves adjacent to the door. The links 9 connecting the member 7 to the door leaves are pivoted to brackets 10 on the leaves. The cylinder 6 may be replaced by a device comprising an electric motor or electromagnetic thruster arranged to produce longitudinal movement of the rod 7.
