Abstract
666,693. Cooling dynamo-electric machines. BERTHIEZ, C. W. Aug. 6, 1948 [Aug. 29, 1947], No. 20822/48. Class 35. A dynamo electric machine is cooled by a stream of air drawn by two fans 22, 23 via two air inlets at the open ends of axially arranged channels 24 arranged outside the vertical and horizontal planes passing through the machine axis and formed by an outer casing 25 and frame 1, the latter having openings 26 communicating with the channels 24, so that the cooling air flows through the openings 26, through the interior of the machine and finally discharged over the bearings to the atmosphere via apertures 30, 31 formed in the end covers 28, 29 respectively. The direction of the air stream may be effected in the reverse to that mentioned above.
