Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the cooling effect of a ventilation cooling system for a rotary electric machine, and reduce the axial length of the rotary electric machine, by providing a wind receiver at only an outer circumferential portion of a cooling fan, and a partition for suction air and exhaust air across a coil end portion and between the wind receiver and an end cover. CONSTITUTION:A wind receiver 8 is provided only at an outer circumferential portion of a cooling fan 4 fixed to an end portion of a rotary shaft 3. A ring type partition 9 for suction air and exhaust air is provided between the wind receiver 8 and an end cover 7 such that the partition 9 crosses a coil end 5. In this structure, the cooling air sucked into a rotary elecrric machine flows to cool a head portion of the coil end 5 and is then introduced into an inner portion of the rotary electric machine. This allows the flow of air to be rendered uniform, and the cooling effect to be increased. Since the partition 9 is provided across the coil end 5, the axial length of the rotary electric machine can be reduced.
