Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the air duct diameter and to cut down the house construction expenses maintaining the prescribed working space for the subject rotary electric machine by a method wherein the surface of the air inlet and outlet of the outer case, whereon a cooling pipe group for an air cooler are provided, is formed into the cylindrical surface conforming to a stator frame surface. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of cooling pipe 13 group is arranged heading to the axial direction and placed in an outer case 14, and an air cooler 9 is provided in such a manner that the air inlet surface 15 and the air outlet surface 16 of the outer case 14 are forming a cylindrical surface conforming to the outer circumferential surface 17 of a stator outer frame 7. In this way, as the cooling pipe 13 is circularly provided in the circular outer case 14, the space in the outer case 14 is filled up without waste space, the distance W between the air outlet surface 16 and the air duct 10 is not narrowed at both ends of the air cooler 9 and the air cooler can be installed directly on the stator frame 7. Hence, as the same cooling airflow is maintained, fan power is reduced and a highly efficient rotary electric machine can be obtained.
