Abstract
666,430. Ticket printing and issuing apparatus. WESTINGHOUSE GARRARD TICKETMACHINES, Ltd., DIXON, S. M., and GIBBS, H. J. M. March 29, 1950 [May 3, 1949], No. 11746/49. Class 106 (iii). To prevent a recipient buckling a ticket within a ticket printing and issuing machine, a restricted passage 13 for the ticket is provided between the final pair of transport rollers 1, 2 and a knife 10 which shears the ticket from a main strip. By " restricted passage " is meant a passage of such dimensions that the strip is unable to buckle within it. That end of the passage 13 which extends into the space between the two rollers is flared to guide the end of a newly fitted strip into the passage or, alternatively, the said end comprises a pair of fingers 14, 15 either or both of which may be so pivoted that they form a flared opening until a strip is fed therebetween, whereupon the finger or fingers are displaced by the strip into a position forming a continuation of the restricted passage. The fingers may extend into circumferential grooves in the rollers or, if the rollers are of a length that is less than the width of the strips the fingers may extend either side of the rollers.
