Abstract

782,079. Tufting machines. AMERICAN SAFETY RAZOR CORPORATION. May 24, 1955 [Jan. 5, 1955], No. 14924/55. Class 112 The tuft-receiving hook in a tufting machine comprises a forwardly extending finger portion 4, a nose 12 extending downwardly from the front end of portion 4, and a neck portion 6 extending downwardly from the rear end of portion 4, the hook being formed of two side walls, one of which has a rearward extension 44 provided with a stop 46 for the outer end of a loop-cutting blade 30 which passes forwardly into a channel extending to a position adjacent the nose 12, whereby the blade may be flexed into and out of its position in the hook. The lower end of portion 6 is received in one of a series of slots 66 provided in a bar 60, the front of the bar between said slots being formed with a series of tapered slots 68 adapted to be opened by means of screws 74 to contract slots 66 for gripping the hooks.
