Abstract

973,369. Sheet-delivery apparatus. MASSON SCOTT & CO. Ltd. Feb. 21, 1963 [March 1, 1962], No. 8048/62. Heading B6H. A device for the rejection of faulty sheets in a sheet cutting machine (Fig. 1, not shown) in which the sheets are moved by upper and lower tape conveyer belts 3 and 4, respectively, Figs. 2 and 3; is characterized in that the sheets to be rejected are deflected by a strut 15 or 20 which presses the upper tapes 3 downwardly whereby the leading edge of the sheet to be rejected engages the lower surface of a guide wedge 11 to be guided thereby into engagement with a conveyer 8. In one embodiment in Fig. 2, the strut comprises a hollow tube 15, extending across the conveyer belt, and is pivotally attached at 16 to a lever arm. 18, which is actuated pneumatically by a jack 17 on detection of a faulty sheet by e.g. photo-electric means. In another embodiment in Fig. 3, the strut is made in the form of a shaped. sheet strip 20, whose trailing edge 23 is coupled by a rod 24 to the armature of a solenoid 25, actuated on detection of a faulty sheet. In order to deal with a varying width of sheets the strips 20 may be provided with lateral adjustable extensions 20b (Fig. 4, not shown) and a number of the strips 20 (such as A, B, C in Fig. 5, not shown) may be juxtaposed to deal with a large variety of widths of sheets if the original sheet is cut, in' addition, longitudinally in the cutting machine into a plurality of varying widths sections.
