Abstract

1,205,418. Folding paper. RANK XEROX Ltd. 19 Dec., 1967 [22 Dec., 1966], No. 57507/67. Heading B8R. A web having transverse weakening lines 12, 14 is fed through rollers 36, 37 over a tray 38 and into a fanfolded stack 15 on a base member 22, the trailing edges being engaged and aligned by an upstanding member 24 and the leading edges being engaged by retarding means comprising at least one flexible member 16, such as a bead chain, secured at one end to a bar 34 through a link 19 and a non-friction member 18 resting on the tray 38, while the lower end hangs in a slot in the member 22. For lightweight webs, the leading edges may be positively advanced downwardly along the retarding means by an air blast from a source 26.
